Our policy on special diet

Why is there a special diet policy?

Det finns fyra anledningar till att Starby Spa Hotels & Conference har en utvecklad och tydlig Special dietpolicy.
1. We want to be able to give all our guests a wonderful dining experience and high food quality - regardless of whether they have special dietary needs or not.
2. We want to avoid anyone getting hurt by being served food that the guest cannot tolerate.
3. Sustainability. Through structured work, we want to reduce food waste - which is an increased risk factor in special diets.
4. We maintain a high standard of our food and offer guests the opportunity to choose whatever they want - but requests beyond a certain basic level come with a price.

What is a special diet?

At Starby Spa, Hotel & Conference, special diet is any food that has been modified/adjusted.

When booking

Our booking conditions specify what applies to special diets.
In short, we're happy to say YES to everything - but special dietary requirements beyond the basic level cost extra.

SPECIAL DIET BASIC LEVEL - INCLUDED
- 100% plant-based (commonly known as vegan)
Lacto-, ovo-vegetarian (colloquially
vegetarian)
- Medical special diets (food allergies) such as gluten, milk, etc. (14 allergens in total)
- Cultural special diet (food choice based on region/culture) e.g. pork.
- Pregnancy diet

SPECIAL DIET EXTRA
The following special costs are charged with
+25% of the menu price.
- Allergies beyond 14 allergens (if required)
- Personal preferences and lifestyle diets (e.g. LCHF, GI, Keto)
- Complicated allergies like onions and multiple allergies

14 days before the stay (conference/event)

For conferences and larger group bookings, we send out a special diet list that must be completed no later than 14 days before the event.
The Starby Spa, Hotel & Conference special diet template must be used.
If Starby's list is not used, 1000:- will be charged.
Starby Spa, Hotel & Conference's goal is always to be flexible and service-oriented - but in case of late notification of special diets or late changes, Starby has the right to charge extra based on increased costs.
If our three-course conference menu is served, Starby takes into account the special diet list when preparing
of the menu. Of course in combination
with the wishes of the host/organizer.

During the stay

Once the guests are seated, we always check if anyone has a special diet at the table.
When we serve starters and main courses, our ambition is that those with special diets get their food at the same time as other guests. When we serve dessert (and in some other cases), we always go out with the special diet first.
Table hosts are responsible for the special diet guests at their own tables. When serving at another table, always ask which special diet is intended at the table.
If any guest accidentally consumes the wrong food, the maître d'hôtel, event manager and any agency/end customer must be informed immediately. Starby is responsible for taking appropriate action.
