Starby Spa, Hotel & Conference based on the Nordic Swan Ecolabel

We put great focus on increasing the conditions for a more environmentally friendly everyday life with an educational material with a great focus on awareness of what you can do in your work to promote the swan work. The focus is also on how we as a workplace can spread the message to our guests to become more environmentally conscious.

Starby Spa, Hotel & Conference sees it as a great responsibility to be Nordic Swan Ecolabeled and to take responsibility for the environment and to be a role model for our guests and future generations.

Environmental work is a major part of our work towards a more sustainable everyday life.

We take responsibility for our environmental impact and strive for a well-integrated environmental approach to issues large and small. We do everything we can to make you feel comfortable working with us, while working hard to reduce our environmental impact.

The way we work:

Our employees are informed about the company's environmental policy, environmental objectives and action plan.
Cleaning is done with respect for the environment. And microfiber cloths are used to reduce the amount of disposable products.
Our staff are trained to bring knowledge and awareness.
We have a good system for handling chemicals and, as far as possible, we use eco-labeled or chemical-free cleaning agents in accordance with the instructions or dosing system for the products.
When purchasing food, priority is given to requirements, organic and locally produced products.
We avoid single-serving and disposable packaging and prefer bulk packaging and returnable glass.
We do not use disposable items at breakfast.
We aim to conserve resources such as water, heat and energy.
Our caretaker quickly follows up and fixes dripping taps and running toilets.
Our guests decide when to change their room towels and if they want their room cleaned, we have information about this in all our rooms.

Our computers, televisions are activated in energy saving mode and completely switched off when not in use.
When rebuilding, we always go for the best from an environmental point of view.
Replace plastic straws with more environmentally friendly alternatives.
We minimize the number of transports to our hotels by joint purchasing in our departments.

We sort our waste as far as possible and aim to reduce the amount of unsorted waste.
We aim to sort food waste, glass, recycled paper (paper/newspapers), paper packaging (cardboard/corrugated cardboard), hard plastic packaging, metal packaging, electricity (e.g. light sources), hazardous waste (e.g. batteries).
We offer Vegetarian options on our menu when pre-booked, we hope to offer more vegetarian options at our lunches in the future.
The restaurant has a fixed 3-course menu that is seasonal and changed approximately every 6 weeks, to reduce food waste and maintain good quality food.

The way we work:

Follow the instructions on towels in the bathroom
Turn off your TV using the on/off button instead of just the remote control - it saves energy.
Do not flush water unnecessarily.
Turn off the lights when you leave the bathroom and hotel room.
Do not throw foreign objects, such as sanitary towels, cotton wool, tampons and other items, into the toilet. They belong in the trash can in the bathroom
Recycle after your stay as much as you can, for example do not throw PET bottles, plastic containers or metal in the trash.
Close the window before checking out of your hotel room.
